Wynona Wang plays Clara Schumann Piano Concerto

Johannes Schlaefli, conductor
Wynona Wang, piano

After instructing the Spokane Symphony Conducting Workshop last year, we’re delighted to welcome back Johannes Schlaefli. His program explores music’s most famous love triangle. Clara Schumann was 19 when she composed her piano concerto but stopped writing after her husband Robert’s death to support her eight children. The nature of her passionate relationship with the younger Johannes Brahms remains an enduring mystery.

Robert Schumann
Manfred Overture, Op.115
Clara Schumann

Johannes Brahms
Symphony No.1 in C minor, Op.68
